Five Manchester United players who could leave this summer
Man Utd could have another summer clear-out and some players have uncertain futures at Old Trafford.
It's expected that there could be a clear-out at Old Trafford this summer, with some players looking likely to face the exit door. Here are five players that could possibly be on their way, depending on how they finish the season and who the manager is.
Michael Carrick
The former Tottenham and West Ham midfielder is out of contract this summer and has yet to agree terms on a new deal. The 34-year-old played a key role during United's title win in 2013 but the veteran is approaching the twilight of his career. If United are serious about becoming a force again, investing in younger players has to be considered.Possible destinations: Newcastle United, Arsenal, West Ham United.
Antonio Valencia
Valencia started as a right winger at United and made it into the PFA Team of the Year after his first season. In recent seasons, Valencia's majority of performances have come at right-back and he has only recently returned to the squad after a four month lay-off due to a foot injury. He turns 31 in August and with younger options such as Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Guillermo Varela, this could be Valencia's last season at Old Trafford.Possible destinations: Valencia, El Nacional.
Marcos Rojo
Signed from Sporting Lisbon in August 2014, Rojo played 22 times in the league last season. Before dislocating his shoulder in November, United had considered the possibility of selling him in January. He has failed to look convincing in a number of games and with Luke Shaw almost fit again after his leg break and the likes of Daley Blind and youngster Cameron Borthwick-Jackson capable of playing left-back, Rojo may depart this summer.Possible destination: Estudiantes LP in Argentina.
Marouane Fellaini
Fellaini enjoyed a strong finish to last season with decent performances against Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham, but has struggled in a number of games this campaign. The ideal position for Fellaini appears to be behind the striker, but as United have a range of players who can play the 'number 10' role, his career at Old Trafford could be coming to an end. His agent was even quoted recently as saying that he would consider a move to Roma.Possible destinations: Everton, AS Roma.
